The Day We Eat Like We Haven't Eaten For A Month, At All!

Duhai Diari,

Niat di hati nak update dan muat turun upload (eh, kalau download = muat turun, upload = ?)
gambar F1 di Singapura, tapi cik abang Supertall saya tak jumpa-jumpa kabel (?) Nikon D200nya.

Tahun ni, takde (duit nak beli) baju raya. Biasanya tahun saya jadi pengapit pengantin, memang tak buat baju raya.

Kami semua pakai baju warna turqoise.

Apakah makanan raya tradisional kegemaran anda?

Kesimpulannya, PPSYH (Pada Pendapat Saya Yang Hina)

Maka, memang saya standby sesisir pisang (penjodoh bilangan tepat, tak tahan! Masih terkesan jadik cikgu tuisyen BM masa adik UPSR bulan lepas) dalam kereta. Nasib baik bawak kereta sendiri balik beraya tahun ni.

Apakah biskut raya kegemaran anda?
Maaflah, saya memang tak pernah suka apa jenis kuih raya pun :(

Diorang tak tahu Yoga Zone (cuba klik) dah bankrup

berapa jumlahnya tak payahlah saya kongsi kat sini.
Nanti semua orang nak jadi awek Supertall raya tahun depan.

(adik Supertall termasuk sekali, chehh.. perasan macam dah jadi adik tu, hu huu..),

Tu pun kalau nak kira, berpuluh jugak anak saudara sepupu saya. Tapi takpe, alhamdulillah semua sangat comel dan sihat belaka.

Apakah aktiviti malam raya korang?
What do you mean, 'korang'?
Cheh, terasa pedas sendiri. He hee..

KAMPUNG mak bapak aku kat Johor, RUMAH mak bapak aku kat Bangsar. Aku balik RUMAH MAK BAPAK AKU tiga empat kali seminggu, woi! Jangan main syak wasangka ingat aku lupa kampung halaman. Kat Johor tu pun, atuk nenek belah mak aku dua-dua dah meninggal, memang takde sedara-mara berkumpul satu rumah pagi raya lagi dah..)

Bye, saya nak pergi main futsal
dengan kawan-kawan STF
setelah dua bulan tak main ni!

The Day You Need '27 Points' To Define Style

Tagged by Chi.

1. Job:
I am a yoga teacher. Despite not teaching 15 classes a week anymore, I'd like to think I am still a yoga teacher. I'd also like to think yoga teachers are walking examples of high prana state, they don't have to be teaching in a class to inspire. If I can quote Azmi Samdjaga, "Being a yoga teacher is the highest form of human being one could be."

So being a yoga teacher is not my job. I love and live my job.

2. Best Sartorial advice from my parents:
Mom
: Wear baju kurungs with super high heels.
As much as I love adidas Superstars and Bounce, I will never do a Sharifah Amani in Sepet.
Dad: Always always take care of your toenails,
"Kalau kuku kaki pun tak boleh jaga, macam mana kamu nak jaga laki?"
.
FYI, I take care of Supertall's toenails as well, or maybe since my favourite pedicurist takes care of mine :)

3. Style icons:
Carrie Bradshaw particularly in SATC The Movie

4. Describe your personal style:
Dailymuscle says I suffer from 'colourcititis'. I can't agree more. I feel that I have to always pair and match what top I wear with the pants or footwear or bag or headband I put on. When teaching, my tank / bra top (on days my tummy decides to behave) has to be paired with matching coloured pants, or my slippers.

On the days I don't teach, you'll always find me in either plain coloured or statement tee with a micromini in washed denim. And in either super flat pumps or super high heels.

5. I build my daily look around:
My hair do that day.
Big hair = short skirt.
Hot hair = hot pants.
Tied up hair = tie-style Bali / Thai pants.
Headband = belt.

6. Personal style quirk:
Statement t-shirts. Can't get enough of them.

Azmi Samdjaga
(my new bff, yes) forced me to wear these tees we found in Pacific Plaza, Singapore during my visit two weeks ago. They read,
1. "If you can take the shit, I can take the pain."
2. (front) "Wanna see my favourite yoga position?" (back) "69"
Oohhhh, tidak berani.

7. Favorite designers:
Stella McCartney for adidas. I love her cut, her colours, her mission statement and her stand against animal cruelty. Many of her bigger sized adidas gadgets are tagged with 'I am a sporty vegetarian'.

I read somewhere that anyone who interviews Stella McCartney will be asked, "Are you vegetarian?" by her personally. And if your answer is no, she will reply with a smile, "You should, I'll tell you why." I wish I have her guts and capacity to enlighten people without offending them, one day.

I also love high-end yoga lines from Lulu Lemon and Donna Karan's Urban Zen, although their smallest sizes are still tad too big for me, and their price range is a little of out my Starving Yoga Instructor budget. And not that I have to buy any yoga / working out clothes, anyway :)

8. Most cherished item:
This adidas by Stella McCartney trenchcoat.

It comes with attached and super chic iPod or mp3 player pocket. This coat is also eqipped with built-in Recco Avalanche Rescue Reflector that can send signals if you are trapped in snow avalanche or something like that. Not that we get snowed and not that we can wear trenchcoat here unless you are either AC Mizal or Adlin Aman Ramli as konco-konco Aznil in Cicakman.

9. Favorite item of clothing:
Comfortable sundress that I don't look pregnant in and
big aviators that I can hide my dark eye circles under

10. I feel best wearing:
Casual Y-back singlet and cargo pants that
I can go to my yoga class to, run my errands in and have my lunch with.

10. The first thing I look at in another Sartorialist's outfit:
Some people just don't have the look and style to carry something expensive.
They can wear the most latest and expensive LV but the LV might just look fake on them.
On the other hands, some can wear a total no-brand and make it look like a thousand bucks.

11. I always break this fashion rule:
It's not my choice to flaunt my cleavage.
Most of the time, I didn't even try :(

12. I never break this fashion rule:
Never wear fleshy top with fleshy bottom.
If your skirt is mini, cover up up top.
If your top is skimpy, wear long pants / skirts.
Most of the time, too little of everything is too much of nothing.

AND,
if I may add

For girls, if you are wearing sleeveless top or above the knee pants / skirt,
make sure you have SHAVED!

13. Never caught wearing:
Anything with VPL. I almost don't wear undies that are not G-strings.
And lucky beings will never find me I will never be caught dead with bra and undie that don't match.

14. Most underrated item in menswear/womenswear:
Hmmm, I think it's sad that most Malaysians still take their work out clothes for granted.
IMHO, because they don't work out and play sports seriously as well.

15. Dress to impress who:
My own two eyes.

16. Shine your own shoes:
I don't need to wear shoes that need shining.
I save that for my Batmobile.

17. Favorite stores:
(That I can afford lah kan? I don't see the point of claiming Bottega Venetta and Chloe when I don't own a piece of theirs and never have been in the stores myself). When I am not in adidas, I am always in a piece of Topshop. They carry UK size 6, just my size.

18. My next "must have" purchase:
More of these amazing adidas Techfit Powerweb Yoga that I wore for adidas Women Event '08 yesterday. The magical shiny 'powerweb' stripes make stretching all the easier and less painful, believe me!

18. I skimp when buying:
Apron / fisherman's pants that I rate next-to most comfortable yoga pants.
I have them in almost every colour, I keep buying them when I travel to islands and I try to get cheaper price by the next time I buy them!

19. I splurge on:
My car?
Because I think that's my literally, biggest accessory and I always leave my house in that.

20. Guilty pleasure
:
When someone says, "I hate you. Why don't I look like
that in that."

21. Cologne:
Lovely by Sarah Jessica Parker.
I can see and smell myself in this for years to come.

Skincare
:
The Body Shop's Tea Tree Oil.
Or when Stella McCartney's CARE line reaches our shore.
Or when adidas Skincare & Body Range starts plastering me in their billboards (hint hint).

22. Most stylish city (Milan, Paris, London, New York, other):
Sadly I have only been to London and Paris, the last time I went was when I was 14 (I didn't have the priviledge and luxury to further my study abroad). I will visit New York by mid 2009 so that makes Shanghai and Singapore my style cities for now.

23. When I was high school I wore?
Ooooh this, you don't want to know.

My high school was an all-girl boarding school in which I lived at for 5 years
(I wonder how I survived too, fret not).

For weekend outings, we had to wear STF-printed on hideous green batik.
For playing hockey, we had to pakai tudung (but most of us improvised it by covering our hair with Alien Workshop or No Fear
bandanna, HA HA HAAAA!).

Back in my boarding school years, wayyyyyyyyyyy oversized t-shirt was so in. Baju kurung with track-bottom (you know those Cheetah, Forest and Schwarzenbach berkilat with cotton lining inside), or oversized basketball t-shirt with kain biru muda baju kurung was in too. Those who were daring enough to wear those to dining hall, or ko-op, or surau, won big time brownie points.

24. Sports:
I still play futsal, golf, badminton and rockclimbing.
I used to sprint (I won gold medal for 100m and 110 meter-hurdles when I was in Form 5 [STF Sportsday '99], jangan main-main!) and played hockey competitively for my school, district and uni.
I watch tennis, football and never miss watching
MHL (Malaysia Hockey League) at the stadium every year and every possible TNB & EY match for the hot guys same reason guys watch The O.C.

25. Favorite fashion magazine:
I don't read fashion magazine except those on the rack of my favourite salon or nail place, which explains my (non-exixtense) fashion sense. Although I secretly dig our own
GLAM for familiar faces and our local celebs' closets.

26. Favorite vacation spot:
Bali, to unwind. Singapore, to shop. New York, to burn my wallet and for the love of SATC.
And someone supertall suggested that we go to Maldives soon :)

27. Favorite neighbourhood restaurants:
Devi's Corner, Bangsar for breakfast with my housemates (none of us work 9 to 5 so we all go for breaakfast at 10am); Devi's Corner, Hartamas for teh tarik; Bestari, Hartamas for Indomee goreng; Aji Don Plaza Damas for their Johor food; Sri Nirwana Maju for its' vegetarian chicken and Khanna PJ for its' banana leaf rice.

The Day I Want M.A.C, Kerastese & The Body Shop to sponsor me and Sarah Jessica Parker to hug me

Dear Diary,

Finally, I get to post up this tag I have always wanted to answer!

I have been seeing it in Chi's, Am's, MK's and Khaylis' (obviously I don't read that many blogs) months ago but it has been that long too that my PC keeps acquiring network address and that I lost my Sony T-11's USB cable.

I am a complicated girl with denial of mild OCD and I have a lot of stuff!
So where shall I begin?

The hair products, maybe.
I don't believe in cosmetic surgery (although I secretly wish I have more eyebrow hair)
but I swear by hair makeovers.

No grown-up's hair is gorgeous after a plain wash with no help of good hair dryers, curlers, straighteners, leave-in moisturizers, serum and God help me, I can go on forever.

Since I permed my hair a couple of months ago, yes I am thankful for I don't have to use hair dryers anymore ever again but I had to double if not triple my hair thingamajig.

In the bathroom, I have to use this many bottles of shampoo to keep my perm and save my colour. My favourite is bar none, the Kerastese' Elasto Curl shampoo, Oleo Curl Rinse-Off and Oleo Curl Leave-In because of the result and the heavenly citrus scent! But they cost me a nuclear bomb and due to the nature of my job, I have to wash my hair everyday or the three bottles will only last for three weeks. Sooooo, I alternate it with the Kerastese' Bonacure Color Save (and I get to protect my treasured highlights as well). The more economic L'oreal Elseve Smooth Intense's smell is my cup of tea too only that the "Whoooa" after-effect is not as "WHOAAAA" as the Kerastese' Curl products.

Wow, that long a paragraph for only in-the-bathroom hair products?
Only for my hair to smell nice all day?
Who is to sniff my hair anyway?
Oh this, you don't have to answer.

On normal days (where I practice yoga everyday), I would usually just curl my parted hair with my fingers (the Oleo Curl Rinse-Off is one holy grail product for curly hair, I tell you) and after it dries, I will just put up a matching coloured H&M headband with what sports attire I am going to be wearing that day and tie my hair up high.

But that is not enough. The stubborn strands will keep sneaking out from every corner! That's when the Kerastese' Oleo Relax serum comes in handy, and I believe many of my female friends and readers will nod their heads too. And the scent, oh so sexy-nya!

The rest of the products are to assist heavy hairdos when I have to thong-curl or bun up my hair.

Yes gentleman, it ain't cheap being a woman. You might come in defense, but 'we have our cars to accessorize, lady!' Yes yes, but and this day and age, you are not the only ones driving mean big wheels and spend big bucks on engine oils and sound system, okkayy..

Moooving on, the in-the bathroom face products.

I have been a loyal fan and user of The Body Shop's Tea Tree Oil range for years. I love the clean scent and after-feeling, the packaging and their against-animal-testing policy. It's my thing, let me be.

But I am not big on moisturizers since my facial skin gets oily like, after 5 minutes of washing, I kid you not. I know, I know, beauty magazines keep saying that if you don't moisturize, you skin will get even oilier. Tried, tested and failed. Moisturizer doesn't work it for me but toner does wonders.

Now ready for my neverending (you have been warned) post-basuh-muka rituals?

Since I moved out from my parents' to stay on my own (in June last year),
I have actually bought this many products from M.A.C from the boxes I didn't throw.

Like, OMG banyak giler kan?
It's almost obscene, I know!
Muka tak lawa-lawa jugak.

I am not blessed with problem-free skin and natural facial beauty so I need this many products to actually look like how I'd like to look, everyday. Not like how I look when I wake up every morning or before I go to be bed every night for that matter, haa haaaa, which is off-limit to my housemates and special friends and guests :P who have the priviliege to sleep over.

For foundation, powder, concealer and blusher, I have been using

these. For years, I swore by M.A.C's Studio Fix Fluid SPF 15 (and it's finishing duo Blot Powder / Loose) and Studio Fix powder color NC40 until late last year when I discovered their Mineralizer range which makes my make-up looks more natural and dewy. Since then, I have been alternating those with Mineralize Satinfinish SPF 15 and complete the touch with Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in Medium Dark.

Although (of course there's a catch), the coverage isn't as generous and they don't stay as long as the Studio Fix range. So I use the Mineralize range for daily use and the Studio Fix for events and photography shootings. And if I may add, I also have Studio Fix in NC45 for cheekbone highlighting and shading. I suggest, get two shades darker but use it s p a r i n g l y .

For the hint of glow at the apple of the cheeks, I use M.A.C blusher in Melba Matte, but I gotta tell you, since it's coral based, it only suits tanned skin like mine, and Halle Berry, and Rihanna, and our likes. Ha haa..

And you have to invest in good brushes for the finish powder and blusher to have evenly-covered-but-not-too-much finish. If M.A.C's brushes are are bit too ridiculously priced, The Body Shop ones are OK too only that I always go and settle for M.A.Cs since their packagings are simple, black and tasteful. Body Shop punya kaler hijau. That explains why I am never and will ever be a fan of Benefit / Stila / Paul & Joe products. Too many colours / too girly names / too bersepah and tak kemas in my eyes. Not to mention that Benefit products that I have tried, just don't do the magic for my face.

For eye make-up (which I spend 80% of my make-up time doing), I still go for M.A.C mostly. Their eye shadow colours are rich, funky and most importantly, glide and stay on my (non-existent double eye)lids! I highly recommend the M.A.C Pigment in Black if you have the hand and talent for smoky eyes. But be sure to have a standby foundation sponge under your lower eyelash before you start anything before that Pigment thing looks amazing on your eyes, but a mess on your pipi tau! And another important eye make-up priceless tips I learnt from the numbers of make-up artists I've worked with for magazine / photography / TV shoots is: AGAIN, invest in good brushes! The small hidup segan, mati tak mahu applicators that come free with pharmacy brands DO NOT WORK. Or at least for me, they don't work as good as the good ones!

Untuk cik bulu mata, before I glide the Loud Lash, a coat of Prep+Prime is a must. I am quite thankful for the girls in my family are blessed with curled lashes so painstaking curling has never been a chore for me. But I must tell you, I think Maybelline's Unstoppable mascaras are amazing as well. Not only they are a fraction of M.A.C's price, they lengthen your, or at least mine, like no tomorrow! They are also smear-proof but still easy to wash-off because of their micro-fiber technology. But when time is not my friend, a quick stick-on falsies hardly disappoints.

For the eyeliners, I am waiting for the The Body Shop's Eye Definer Shade: Black to finish off before I switch it to M.A.C's magical eyeliner. But when I wear my glasses, I usually opt for liquid eyeliner since it's staying power is more ummmph. My lovely Julie gave me this Anna Sui liquid eyeliner as a gift at first but I fell in love with it because of it's easy application and sweet smelling liqiud that I ended up buying it when Julie's one finished. Highly recommended as well!

Contrary to what most of you think, I am not a fan of lipstick / lipgloss / lipliner and even the new Lipstick Jungle for that matter (erkkk, macam takde kaitan langsung). Reason being, they make my lips chapped (no matter what holy grail lipstick / balm I use) and if it's not too TMI, it makes me unkissable, heh heh.. But of course, to complete a heavy make-up do, kena lah dab a little lipstick supaya tidak nampak macam pemalas sangat, ha haa.. NO OFFENSE but, I personally believe that girls / perempuan yang tidak make-up adalah
1) tidak tahu pakai mekap or,
2) pemalas.
Like Helena Rubinstein said (that I quote from Neil Strauss' The Game),
"There are no ugly women. Only lazy ones."
I also personally believe those born with natural beauty kurang cantik bila dimekap penuh, contoh terbaik adalah ANTM Cycle 8's Heather. Either that, or I'm simply jealous.

If I have to put some colours on my lips, I also go as nude and natural as possible, of course exception goes to crazy nights I decide to go screaming red.

My current lipcolour at the moment is M.A.C's Amplified in Blankety and shine it with M.A.C's PlushGlass in Pretty Plush. I used to use M.A.C's Matte in Cherish and clear coloured LipGlass for topcoat but the combo made my lips pecah-pecah by the sixth hour of wearing them, any attempt of trying to retocuh it will only make it look, euurghh. Plus, PlushGlass shimmers, smells yummy and has cooling effect. To prove my love-hate relationship with lipsticks, I didn't even buy that Amplified lipstick, I got them off trading 6 empty M.A.C packaging anything. So I'm guessing, when I have enough 6 empty powder and mascara cases, I'll try a different colour, just cause. And it's free lipstick anyway.

Anyways, for those who have been asking,
I did that my own make-up for that Tongue In Chic launch, thank you :)

This is what one does when it's fasting month and when she's out of jobs.
This tag if not the way I answer this is endless, isn't it?

Done with the temporary make-up (come to think of it, all the hours and money spent for make-up adlah tidak berkekalan dan perlu dibasuh sebelum tidur, membazirnya!), moving on to body lotions. Oh, I can never get enough of body lotions. I am no longer a big fan of Palmer's Cocoa Butter (tapi Chi mesti jealous sebab I got the pump one :D) because it's scent often overpowers my perfume, it gets greasy during my yoga class although I still use it sparingly especially after I get my legs shaved or waxed.

High on comnsumption for the past year has been Vaseline's Aloe Vera. It is cooling, provides just enough moist (for the legs and arms, oink! Don't get creative, there's always KY for everything else) and the scent is pleasant. Another recent discovery is, BIO OIL in capital letters because it works exactly how it ad says! The Body Shop's Cocoa Butter and Puree Body Lotion both in Satsuma (I love everything orange smelling) are for the times I use Satsuma Shower Gel and The Body Shop's Shimmer Body Lotion in Cranberry plus Fragrance Scintillante Et Sensuelle in White Musk are for night parties or if I want to look as if I have healthy glow in pictures. Although, I always end up looking sweaty if not 'melekit' in pictures if I dab too much of those.

Now the final part.
Like how a perfect perfume is the final touch of your polished look,
I hope this story of my perfume(s) will be the last part of this entry.
I think it's my longest post ever! And I don't get paid for writing this!
(Hint hint: I have been paid quite a lot for posting nothings in my blog lately :D)

Presenting..

The every-size-possible of Sarah Jessica Parker's Lovely EDP. I know I smell Lovely, nuff said :)

And these are bottles of scents that I still splash every now and then, some of them were birthday / Valentine's / anniversary gifts and a few others were impulse purchases. Heh.. I splash Elizabeth Arden's Green Tea to my yoga classes, although it's EDP but it's scent is subtle just like the taste of green tea.

Thank you for your time reading and feel free to tag yourself if you haven't answered this.

For any M.A.C, The Body Shop and Kerastese rep reading this,
I thank your endorsement contract and kindness in advance :D
