The Day For Things To Change, We Have To Be The Change

Dear Diary,

A wise man said,
“If you are not happy about something, try to change it yourself.
If you can’t, change your attitude – STOP COMPLAINING”
.

One of the steps I am crawling up to change the things I am unhappy about
is to take charge of being the change I want to see and BE.

If you care to see and follow my changes,
your first step is to change your bookmark from TYI Diaries to
http://ninieahmad.com
as this post is my very last post here.

See you there,
for the change.
For the better.

The Day When The Going Gets Tough..

Dear Diary,

People do strange things
to get out of sadness
and to feel instantly better.

Some choose to migrate to another country,
many would pig out bad stuff into their bodies,
most will just take long holidays or go crazy on retail therapies.

Personally pour moi,
the next option never fails to make me feel immediately relieved.

It worked and uplifted me three years ago.

So yes,
when the going gets tough,
the tough gets..

SHORT.

And what makes this haircut really special is,
it was done by a super special celebrity.
He was a celebrity hairstylist in top hair salon in London
before he made it really big here.

Presenting,
the new Ninie

and her celebrity hairstylist.
Literally celebrity, okay?

Unfortunately he does not (need to) cut hairs anymore.

Sorry girls.
The only straight (I am not going to say cute, as he only paid me to say he's straight :P) male hairstylist around
just performed his last masterpiece work on me.

And obviously this set of pictures were shot by another celebrity (photographer).
I couldn't ask for better housies!

So yes, I am back to counting my blessings,
happily waking up in the morning, twisting and pretzeling.

See you again tomorrow with pictures of Beijing!

MY HAIR!

When I was 21, I used to say
"I'll get married when my hair reaches my waist"
and (or but?) this week especially,

I have this itch to cutting my hair spiky short again!

The Day Impossible Is Nothing, Really

Dear Diary,

Every year, I set a realistic target for myself
to achieve a couple of almost-impossible yoga poses (asanas).

2006

Peacock Pose (Mayurasana)

Wide-Legged Headstand (Hanumasana in Sirsasana)

Unsupported Handstand (Adho Mukha Vrksasana)

Yesterday, out of nowhere
(perhaps the motivation and desperation that it was the last day of June),
I managed to stand - or, literally.. the complete opposite of stand in this pose:

Unsupported Headstand (Niralamba Sirsasana)

that is one of the two poses I aim to accomplish this year.

Thank you God Almighty
for lending me the strength to carry my entire body weight on my head,
for awarding me the confidence to believe that I am ready to do it,
AND
for the enlightenment that I don't need a designer handbag, a flashy car or someone else
to validate and complete my purpose of living another year in Your blessing.

Having a million ringgit, a hundred LVs and a trophy husband DO NOT COMPARE with
getting to stand on my hands seconds longer than the last time I attempted,
getting to stretch an inch further than the record I set the last time I tried AND
getting every muscle in my body to realize every instruction my mind can think of.

'When we can be thankful of the free things we already have,
then life will be simpler as we won't be asking for things we can live without.'

I have six months to work on this other pose.

I am wishing my body and my spine:
all the best, W-E CAN!

The Day We Gotta BE Transformed

Dear Diary,

Very early this morning, a couple of hours before we got the shock of MJ,
my nocturnal housemate threw me and Supertall a riddle,

Q: What do you call a parent of Transformers?
A: Transparent.

Ha ha.
Ha.

Just don't ask what was I doing and everybody stays alive

The Day Mamaks Say The Darnest Things

Dear Diary,

As usual, I look forward to my weekly futsal training
for the one-hour post-futsal drinking session with my Srikandi girlfriends,
wayyyy more than the one-hour of running around and checking out cute boys next court
(that's why I hardly bring Supertall along, woottt!).

The mamaks at this particular Medan Selera Jalan 223 never fail to make us laugh
every Thursday, every time we order something, anything!

And so I've shared with you this a couple of months ago and last night, I clearly ordered,
"Nasi Goreng Kampung satu! TAPI tak mau ayam, tak mau daging, tak mau telur, tak mau seafood please!
Bagi extra pedas OK?"

Abadeeeeen, this is what he shouted to his cook,
"WOOOKEH! Neh, naaasi goreng kampung satu, SAYUR tak mau!"

WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY?

And that is of course, among other (wrong orders that night).

The Day 'Will The Real Slim Ninie, Please (Head?)stand Up!'

Dear Diary,

Last Friday evening, on the way to Be Yoga,
I stopped by Atilia's table at a mamak place around the corner for a quick drink, when..

. . . . . . .

a guy from a table across, walked to our table.

I whispered to Atilia, "Babe, mesti your fan ni!"

To my surprise, he introduced himself to us, shook our hands and asked ME,
"You are Ninie, the yoga instructor right?"

I answered, Yes.. lah kan.

When he continued, "Oh hi, I am your one of your MySpace friends!"

Errrrr, but I don't have MySpace!

"But YOU have been replying to my messages!"

BUT I DO NOT HAVE MYSPACE!

Dengan sepantas kilat, Atilia berri-ed myspace.com/ninieahmad and found, surprise surprise..

Imagine my terror when I discovered the profile.
Of course that's my picture, my profile, my photos but I did not set that up!
They were copied bluntly from my Facebook!

I DO NOT OWN ANY MYSPACE OR FRIENDSTER ACCOUNTS!

This 'Ninie Ahmad' had painstakingly copied and pasted almost all of my albums
and most of my pictures in those albums to MySpace!

I can't say I am not flattered.
Someone actually thinks I am worth their time to be doing this for me!
And I am not even a celebrity!

Well, if you know me well enough, you would know that,

For one,
I wouldn't be caught dead with anything pink in my room, my office desk
(no offense pink lovers, I'm just not blessed with the liking for pink coloured things, chic-lit books and Stila / BeneFit packagings)
let alone on my profile background!

Secondly,
Not in my right mind I would have the time and would want to be seen with profile name (love symbol) Ninie (love symbol).
Sorry, Googled for the html code for that heart symbol thing tetapi tiada berjumpa!

AND,
I would never write 'adidas' as Adidas without small-capitalizing the initial 'a'.
All of you shouldn't too. adidas is registered and trademarked with all small letters.
(Jessica Lim and Darren Choy, don't you just love me?)

The closer I took a look at that profile and all the comments left to the pictures,
all the more I can't imagine what this 'Ninie Ahmad' has been writing / replying
to 'my' friends and my friend-wannabes!

Giler mengorat secara rempit lagi terburuk kan?

I immediately lodged an official complaint letter to MySpace and they responded with a solution
on how to verify 'who is the real Ninie Ahmad' by following a few steps:
  • They need to receive a 'salute' from the owner of the MySpace profile or from the party in question (a salute is a digital image or picture of you holding a handwritten sign that contains information about your MySpace account).
  • They will then determine if the 'Ninie Ahmad' in the salute is the owner of the account / profile by comparing the salute with the pictures uploaded in the reported profile's photos.

While they take their time in determining the verdict,
whoever's in 'my' MySpace, kindly delete yourself out!
If 'I' have been asking for money or sexual favours, it wasn't me!

And seriously, who still MySpaces?

While I am at it,
I do not approve Facebook's Friend Request from anyone I have never met had conversations with in real life
(although some exceptions go to veryyyyyyyyy special bloggers / my blog readers that have special places in my spine)
and please do understand that I can't afford to approve everyone that has been to my yoga classes / read my blog!

Anyway, I have also disabled my Facebook's Add Friend Request since last year
since I have more Friend Requests than my own Friends List. What the?

There is not much in my Facebook that I don't share here
so tak payah lahhhhh add me.

Dan tak payahlah susah payahhhhhhhhhhhhhh create another profile of me!

Kalau nakkkkkkkk jugak buat Ninie perasan celebrity,
followlah Ninie di

http://twitter.com/ninieahmad

If I am that worthy.

The Day French Might Be Over But The Dress Is Staying

Dear Diary,

The morning I was going the Bfm interview,
Supertall caught me overdressing and said,
"Sayang, you are going to be on the radio! No one is actually going to see you!"

Errrkkk, on my defense, I had another interview with KL Yoga all in the same afternoon, nyet nyet!

I haven't done this (What I Wear Today) for quite sometime but since that purple dress I wore that Friday
collected bags of compliments along the trail of walking to and from Be Yoga, BU8 and One Utama,
I just have to share where I got it from.

French Open followers and Ana Ivanovic fans might have noticed that
it is the very same dress Ana wore for the tournament this year although mine is purple in karer.

Oh yes, this dress is actually a tennis dress is from adidas adilibria.

I love the detailed pleats and asymmetric neck!

While capturing a close-up of the dress in the above picture,
I realized that Be Yoga's studio names spell exactly the same as they look from the outside
because of the mirror reflection on the frosted tampered glass!

Studio BEHOLD

Studio BELIEVE

Studio BECOME

Whenever I self-practice and teach (yoga),
I keep reminding myself and my dear practitioners that,
"no matter how painful the pose feels, BEHOLD the pain,
no matter how impossible the pose seems, BELIEVE that we can do it,

only when we behold it and believe in us, we will BECOME it."

Try it.
BE IT.
