Merujuk perkara di atas,
saya, bagi pihak pengamal yoga dan pengusaha perniagaan yoga seluruh Malaysia
menggesa pihak tuan supaya MENARIK BALIK KENYATAAN tuan kepada media yang menyatakan
'Yoga haram diamalkan oleh umat Islam
dan mereka yang sudah mengamalkannya segera bertaubat kepada Allah
kerana sudah melakukan perkara yang salah di sisi Islam'
sebelum Majlis Fatwa Kebangsaan mengisytiharkan
senaman yoga 'haram' atau sebaliknya.
Sekiranya tiada tindakan susulan diambil dengan segera,
saya tidak akan teragak-agak untuk mengambil tindakan undang-undang
ke atas pihak tuan atas tuduhan fitnah
dan menuntut gantirugi maksimum di mahkamah
kerana kenyataan tuan telah menjejaskan mata pencarian kami.

As per above,
I, on behalf of all yoga practitioners and yoga center/institute owners
do hereby urge you to retract your previous statement declaring that
'yoga is prohibited (Haram) for all Muslims
and those who have been practicing it to immediately revert
as to have done something of sin by definitions of Islam'
before the National Fatwa Council declares
yoga to be 'haram' or otherwise.
If no subsequent action is taken immediately,
I shall not hesitate to act lawfully upon you on the basis of slander
and demand maximum compensation claims in court
as your statement has deeply affected our source of income.

Babe, I have to say something here. I'm not a yoga practitioner, but I attended few classes in True Fitness, attended one of your yoga class back in Damansara Heights (tukang tgk..haha), at the same time read a few mags about yoga. Personally I think Yoga has nothing to do with a religion. It is a form of exercise that makes that individual focusses more towards his / her inner self. A part of getting a good health and get a better life. Whoever did the statement was REALLY narrow minded. Yes, it was originated from India. But now, yoga is universal. It is even been parctice in another strict Islamic countries like Arab Saudi and Iran. Maybe originally ade part jampi serapah/ chantings of scared hymns ke ape2, but now all classes skip that part kan? I don't now what happen to our country now. There are a lot of issues that obviously we can classified as 'haram' like corruption, judi, riba'....etc.
But no actions been taken on that part. There are MORE things in life to worry about. If I were you, definitely I will against this statement.
Anyway, baru plan nak attend and register in your class soon...But am sure it will be OK!!

Nasihat saya, kalau nanti sudah difatwakan haram, jangan pula menidakkannya dan menegakkan benang yg basah.
Sumber rezeki itu hak Allah oleh itu tidak perlulah risau kerana sesungguhnya Allah itu maha pengasih dan penyayang.

I am still giving myself hope to Malaysia that our Muftis decisions combined altogether will result to something reasonable and smarter than a Mufti Johor, a UKM professor and you combined. To why, Malaysia has 12 Muftis altogether.
Allah IS pengasih lagi Maha Penyayang but my worry is, you ARE not loving with your words and I pray with love that Allah forgives you for hurting me such in this time of trial.

anyway, Islam is a wonderful religion.. any form of exercise activities are not prohibited as long it's not interfere Muslim's faith in Allah.. in fact, Muslims are encouraged to take care of their health n seek for wellness that will lead them to the awareness of Allah's superiority..
u know, basically its about knowing how to ADOPT good things that can benefit to our life putting aside whoever is the founder(Christian, Hindus, whoeverr) and knowing how to ADAPT it according to our belief..
well dats my humble opinion..

Saya ada merujuk pada yang berilmu tentang fatwa ni, kenapa sesuatu pekara itu di fatwakan. Usually, bila wujud salah faham tentang hukum, alim ulamak (yang hafal hadith, al-aluran etc) akan membuat garis panduan.
Fatwa ni lebih kepada pandangan, dan pandangan boleh di tolak. Ada juga dikalangan imam besar yang tidak menerima fatwa imam lain (isu rokok for example).
Hukum haram dalam yoga jatuh haram bila, kita menggantikannya dengan solat. Contoh jika kita tidak tenang - buat yoga/meditasi instead of solat/zikir. Semua bergantung dengan niat.
Ataupun, membaca mentera dan melakukan perbuatan tertentu yang terdapat dalam amalan agama lain.
Semua berdasarkan Ijtihad.
Kalo sekadar senaman untuk rohani dan fizikal dan tidak mencemarkan syiar Islam.
Insyallah takda apa.
Conclusion. Both party kena paham agama, dan kena paham yoga.
Adakah lepas ni Yoga pon kena ada cop Halal?

i've nothing against yoga and plan to practice it after my 4th pregnancy/delivery Q1 nx yr InsyaAllah but I think what is haram is when you don't dress appropriately according to Islamic teaching to perform the exercise..no offence, just stating the truth. cheersss....

Saya jumpa cuma nasihat agar dihentikan, tiada pula saya jumpa perkataan segera bertaubat. Mungkin saya salah baca.
Nasihat saya, wajar juga saudari sebagai wakil pengamal yoga, berdialog secara terbuka dengan Majlis Fatwa, dan hormatilah keputusan mereka sebagai orang yang lebih berilmu.
Jika yoga yang diajar oleh saudari tiada elemen Hindu dan tidak menggunakan mantera atau chants, tidak perlu susah hati atau gabra. Malah mungkin ini menjadi market baru untuk saudari dalam berniaga: Yoga Halal :)

Untuk suggestion berdialog secara terbuka dengan Majlis Fatwa: WHAT MAKES YOU THINK I HAVE THE CONFIDENCE to write this entry in bold for them to retract their announcement AND ask you to shut up until the result comes out IF I HAVEN'T DONE SO?
I have done my homework, thoroughly and so should they.
They might be knowledgeable of Islam and are authorized for Muslims' regulations in Malaysia, I have full respect for that but none for narrow-minded holier-than-thou and some of you commenters fall into that, I am sorry.
But I know my Yoga too.
And I stand firm on what believe is not harmful for everyone.
Berani kerana benar.

Berkaitan dengan komen saya tentang yoga, apa yang saya kata hanya berkaitan dengan aspek ilmiah mengenai amalan yoga; iaitu ia semenangnya satu amalan yang berasaskan aspek kerohanian HINDUISME yang BERTUJUAN untuk menyatukan diri mereka dengan tuhan mereka. Hal ini boleh disemak dalam pengajaran kerohanian Hinduisme itu sendiri. OLEH ITU ATAS ASAS tanggungjawab ilmiah saya kepada saudara-saudara MUSLIM saya lalu saya nasihatkan umat islam supaya review amalan yoga mereka kerana saya bimbang akan menyebabkan syirik. Kalau dah yakin dengan your yoga, kenapa nak melenting? Cuba selesai secara berhikmah. Anda sudah hubungi pihak majlis fatwa dan utarakan pendapat anda, serta bahan-bahan homework anda? Kalau sudah, baguslah. Kalau belum, saya sarankan segera sebelum 7 November tarikh keramat saudari.
Kerana dalam soal ini, mata pencarian saudari dalam bahaya. Jadi berbincanglah secara orang yang berilmu. Dengan cara itu anda pun boleh 'earn' respect mereka.
Buat saudara Aiman, fatwa tidak dikeluarkan atas hal-hal yang sudah jelas haram ya. Seperti arak, makan babi dsb. Tapi jika saudara berasa hal yang dipersoalkan oleh Majlis Fatwa adalah remeh, boleh hubungi mereka melalui JAKIM dan cadangkan supaya fatwa seperti halal atau tidak DEB ataupun boleh atau tidak membuat pelaburan dalam instrumen derivatif yang dicadangkan oleh Valuecap.

If you could have spent some time comparing and digesting both (since you have read the first, I suppose) OR tried attending a yoga class at any gymnasiums or big yoga centers:
I am sure you would be surprised how Yoga as described and claimed on the Yoga and Hindu websites (and what you think Yoga is ALL about) are not what is globally practiced - as a mind and body EXERCISE.
May Allah forgive what fitnah and cruelty we have done to each other and may He open our eyes to using our heart bigger than a hundred narrowed minds.

Kalau kita sembahyang 5 kali sehari dengan niat menunjuk yang kita ni mengikut suruhan agama, apa maknanya?
Kalau kita bertudung kerana tak nak disisih kawan sepejabat atau kawan seuniversiti, apa maknanya?
At the end of the day, apa pun yang kita lakukan di dunia ini bermula dengan niat, dan hanya Tuhan saja yang tahu niat sebenar kita dan tidak ada sesiapa pun yang ada hak untuk menghakimi sesorang manusia itu, kecuali Tuhan.
Jadi pada saya yang jahil ilmu agama ni, semuanya terpulang pada niat. Jika benar niat beryoga untuk memuja Tuhan agama Hindu, jadi teranglah itu menyalahi ajaran agama Islam. Akan tetapi jika niat anda beryoga untuk kesihatan diri tanpa mengamalkan jampi mentera, jadi adalah tidak wajar Yoga dihukum kan haram oleh Majlis Fatwa.
If they MUST and INSIST on putting a rule on Yoga in Malaysia, I hope it will not be ultimately haram as I think it's unfair. I think it is only fair if they say, only haram depending on the niat of the practitioner.

I definitely admire you and your courage to fully stand up on this debatable issue. I am a Muslim and I myself do practice Yoga as a form of exercise and I did it purely and merely for my health. No mantra or chanting involved in my practice and I strongly believe most Muslim did not too. And to date since I included Yoga into my routine, it only does wonders to me and it absolutely did not alter my faith towards my religion whatsoever.
When it was printed that Yoga is going to be announced as "haram", I can totally relate your anger and emotion for I myself feels the same way. I do not want to be asked to repent to God just because to be fully in charge for taking care of my health.

Do you know, that it is said that a heart attack feels like the weight of a truck on your chest? And do you know.. that you most probably have a higher chance of suffering from one compared to all of us here?

Ninie, you definitely have my 100% support! Me and my fellow housemate (Rosalyn - a girl from Bangsar who used to be your student) had a long chat about this issue. I baru nak berjinak-jinak in yoga... but this would not dampen my spirit.
Wow..surat yang sangat baik Ninie. Apakata u cuba dapatkan bantuan dari Dr Asri bekas mufti Perlis. banyak pandanganya lebih kotemporari. tidak terikat dengan ijtihad yang sudah berkarat ratusan tahun dahulu.
Atau u boleh adakan perbincangan terbuka dengan majlis fatwa. Kerana fatwa yang dibuat barangkali tidak cukup sumber dan rujukan untuk mereka membuat istimbat hukum.

Hope they consider hal ni properly. I applaud the idea of inviting them to view yoga centers. Tak kenal maka tak tahu. Even Rasulullah SAW pun pernah masuk gereja untuk understand other religion. Untuk belajar. Open minded.. Bukankah itu suatu sunnah juga? Belajar dan research. Go and check things out. Practising yoga does not mean ur less or tak beriman.

i think it is how people just simply associate hinduism at the mere mention of yoga.
Funny how they are more concerned with an exercise routine rather than look at the bigger social issue out there in Malaysia.
And as you said, as long as you know your boundaries, things will fall back into place.
