The Day Brit Comes, Brit Goes

Dear Diary,

Some (if not one) of you might have caught a glimpse of me on ntv7's Malaysia: My Second Home giving comments on how I first met Tom Hayton, a British photographer who stays in Malaysia.

Special thanks to my Encik Supertall for AstroMAXing this for me.

(DISCLAIMER: Yes, I look like I put on weight here. A lot of weight. I did! I was 4-effing-7 kgs!)

They were supposed to write 'Ninie Ahmad (housemate)' but I think, due to whatever sensitivity issue here, of how could a single Malay female stay in a house together with a non-Muhrim, they changed it to Friend instead.

I guess that does it too only that, I think Tom and I are beyond friends. Don't get me wrong. We were never in that-kind-of relationship. IMHO, when you agree to accepting a housemate, you are obliged to take him / her as your new best friend too. Tom and I became housemates, best friends and instant brother and sister.

Sadly, after making Malaysia his second (or was first) home for the past 4 years, after sharing the same house with me since October last year, he decided that the time has come for him to have a piece of other parts of the world.

He chose France.

It was very hard for me to part with him (although I had so much fun throwing the farewell parties for him) but it is good to know that he is safe and happy there.

(amazing photos by Anna-Rina. Good job babe, for making me look quite-the-muskel in the first pic, quite the pelakon-terbaik in the second and quite 5'5" in the third. Ha haa..)

Housemates come and go.
Tom left big shoes to fill in.

I don't what is it about my house that attracts Brit after Brit.

Tom's replacement was Anna-Rina (in picture above. She looks familiar because she also always graces fitness magazine pages and recently won CLEO's Young Achiever Award, I'm so proud of you!), an upcoming wedding photographer (she was the one who introduced me to Tom!) and another Brit bloke, Jamie who is ALSO a photographer who practices capoeira and yoga. He makes all those handstands, somersaults and mortales look so easy!

Not only the house (if not me :D) attracts Brits,
it seems to pool photographers as well!

The lovely house I'm renting has four rooms. It is a big 2 and a half storey house, big enough for a family to live in. It used to be only Tom and I in the whole big house. Two person sharing one fat house rent (in the name of Bangsar) and crazy utility bills.

Now, Jamie takes up the second room which used to be Tom's bedroom and Anna takes the fourth room leaving the third room which used to be Tom's office to be vacant.

No, I'm not looking for a housemate.

Anna and Jamie have been fantastic and my other new housemate will arrive from London tomorrow! Told you my house attracts those Brit blokes. Apparently he is half-English, half-Iban, super cute (according to Tom lah) and in process of becoming a VJ here.

With a yoga instructor, two photographers and a VJ in the house, I think I'll have an interesting house for me to look forward and come home to.

But Abang Tom, you are still deeply missed.

Hi Tuan Director, what a surprise seeing you here at my humble blog!

Housemates are beyond friends! Nevertheless I had fun during the shoot at our house and watching the episode just made me miss Tom even more! I guess I'll bump into you around at Nirwana Maju again (like we always do) although this time around, I wouldn't be with Tom anywhere :(

Good luck with your upcoming movies! If you're ever in need of a super-flexi female lead, you know who to find! He hee..
