The Days My New Bibik Drove Me Crazy

Downward-Facing Dog [Variation]
(masa ni rambut belum rebond lagi)

I miss my previous Bibik.

The current one manifestly talks and asks (for) too much.

Like earlier today, she asked, "Kamu 'nggak puasa ya? Itu tadi saya kemas'in kamarnya tadik, ada cawan Milo hangat di atas meja.."
"Bik, saya datang bulan lah ngok!"
She continued with "Kamu ngapa sih 'nggak pergi kerja ini hari? Udah jam 11 ini?"
"Bik, hari ini saya kerja pukul 7 malam nanti, tolong tutup pintu. Saya mau sambung tidur....."
"Kerja apa kamu sih? Ada hari jam 6 pagi udah keluar, tengah hari kok balik. Jam 7 keluar lagik.."
I felt like saying, "Bik, I don't need another mother."

I would've said that if I knew, apparently she speaks English too!

"Along, ngapa sih? Pacarnya 'nggak datang-datang lagi ke mari?"
I was like, "Apa bibik cakap? Saya kurang dengar.."
"Bibik bilang, ngapa sih' your boyfriend don't (dia tak cakap 'doesn't') come here anymore? Ada ribut ya?"
Terkejut aku, "Bibik boleh cakap orang putih?"
"Iya, saya dulu pernah kerja'in di rumah diplomat."
Tak habis lagi bibik ni nak cakap, "Itu pacarnya, kayak Ari Wibowo ya? Ganteng bangat.."
I went, "Ye lah, bibik tu. Itu hari masa tengok TV (Something's Gotta Give) cakap macam Keanu Reeves.."
"Iya, tapi kok lihat gambarnya dekat-dekat, persis sekali Ari. Waduhh.."

Me and my Ari Wibowo

Eh eh, bibik aku ni (nama dia Rita Rudaini ke apa)..

Bibik Nama, please come back. I miss you.

And I found this last week,
which makes me miss her even more..

Nama: Nama.

yes, ur bibik stories are always funny! the one where u said "Sumpah nama dia Nama!" gets me crackin' everytime.. and that picture too.. the irony of Nama: Nama it's like "Wat's ur name?" "Hmm..it's 'Name!'"

P.S.:Tak larat lah nak reply to all comments, but thanks for writing. I do read ALL and appreciate the time and effort you guys took to check on me and I try my best to check on every link seen here and to learn from critism (if not hatred) left.

asmadi: The Harmony Silk Factory is mesmerizing. I have yet to finish reading it but once you started, it's unputdownable. At first i thought it's of a Silverfish production considering it's widely reviewed and sold here but I was wrong. Tash Aw is definitely a writer to watch with his first book that I feel connected to and very much enjoy.
